But even during Happy Hour, expect to spend at least $12 to get borderline satiated. The only sushi on the Happy Hour menu are a few basic rolls and handrolls. Those looking for nigiri should go elsewhere, as nigiri at 'Ohana runs at about $4.50 a pop just for the staples, such as maguro (tuna) and sake (salmon). Long story short, 'Ohana is a lively place for those with money to waste. Go for the upbeat environment and socializing; don't go exclusively for the food.

SUSHI MONSTERS' COMMENTS
Well-known in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, 'Ohana's is a trendy spot that sells a basic selection of sushi and Hawaiian-influenced items such as spam musubi. The restaurant often has Happy Hours, and as a result, it is mostly packed, even on weeknights.

Ohana means Family and thats just the way they make you feel.it is not too expensive the Food is fresh and the Drinks are Strong and if you
go there on Sundays They have Karaoke starting arround 10pm til about 1am with the most Fabulous Host Aury Moore who treats you like a star while singing and makes sure your treated like a star after singing by making sure the audience applauds after your done. Ohana is a fun, very loud, Pacific Islander take on the sushi experience. They have a fairly extensive maki selection (both the basics and quite a few in-house creations) and a unique hot menu. I highly recommend the chicken adobo and fresh lumpia...how often do you see updated Filipino food alongside sushi?? With regard to sushi, I don't recommend it if it's the only thing you're looking for - but they do have a great spam musubi and do some fun stuff with hamachi and jalepenos. I think the previous reviews are (unfortunately) correct about service. It is loud, service can be slow and inconsistent...but they ARE original!
really unexciting Posted Aug 29, 2006 by monkeys
i went to 'ohana during happy hour, because -- why not? their happy hour is still expensive, though, and they are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. the sushi is fairly decent, but honestly not worth the money. everything else is pretty much a rip-off. eating there at happy hour is like eating a meal somewhere else -- only you don't get full. we spent about $12 each or something stupid and were not even fulfilled very much at all. the food is unexciting, the service is bad... the only thing that i can say is good was the decorations. but how much does that really count for?
Terrible disappointment Posted Aug 29, 2006 by xiaojie848
The seattlecitysearch description sounded fun and it was highly rated, but the service was rude, the tables and menus sticky, and they didn't honor their microsoft prime card discounts that day because 'they don't honor discounts on holidays'.
The food was very blase and over priced. We ate about half of it and took the rest home only to throw it out later. Maybe it's a semi-fun atmosphere for families, but if you're a true sushi fan, don't even bother. |
