On its plus side, if you order the right combination of things, Imo can be pretty tasty. You can go with the somewhat sketchy bulgogi sushi roll, or you can go with a baked Happy Hour roll. Your happiness or future disappointment are both in your hands; trial and error will eventually lead to a satisfying meal. Just remember not to pay for the ramen.

SUSHI MONSTERS' COMMENTS
Imo is a rather entertaining restaurant if you crave diversity in your diet. It operates with tapas-style dishes; for three to four dollars a plate, you can sample everything from spicy Korean dishes to certain types of sushi and ramen. That being said, some options on its menu are absolute ripoffs, such as the ramen. For about $3, we expected the kind of ramen you would find in Japanese ramen shops. What we got instead was something along the lines of Neoguri, or another brand of instant ramen. Highly disappointing.

TERRIBLE SERVICE Posted May 06, 2009 by DK
I realyl liek their sushi, especially the rolls. They're tasty and not a bad value for the price. Problem is, the service is TERRIBLE! It takes forever for you to get any attention from the server and it took waaay too long to get our check. I would go there more often if they improved their service

i used to eat here once a week. they've been cutting back on servers and now you should plan on sitting for 20 mins before someone takes your order; half-hour b4 food arrives; and at least 10 minutes for the check (and maybe even another 5 for the credit card slip to sign). the food's still fine, but it's not worth the wait. i won't be going here again for lunch.
Get the chirashi Posted Dec 23, 2006 by baselle
I've eaten here when it was the Bonzai. As Imo, the sushi is similar, maybe with a little less drama (no naked sushi). Service can be inconsistent, unless you sit at the bar. Rolls and nigiri are pretty standard. If you love raw fish and you are on a budget, get the chirashi (strewn sushi), which is basically sashimi artfully arranged on a bed of sushi rice. For 11$, the portions of raw fish are large, varied & you get a number of them (12), along with seaweed, and a bit of vegetable.
i was really excited to go here Posted Dec 05, 2006 by monkeys
this restaurant has some clear pluses and minuses. the menu is essentially like dim sum or tapas, where you order small dishes to make a complete meal. some of the choices are exciting, though i'm still angry that they charged me $3 for neoguri instant ramen or something, though. i thought it was REAL japanese ramen. BIG MISTAKE. we went during happy hour and the menu was pretty freaking weak, asides from one fried roll that was pretty good. their nigiri is pretty expensive and just OK. i wouldn't recommend this place, really, although it's kind of interesting, i guess.
