Masu seems like the place to be. While they serve sushi it seems more like a loud bar to me.
We made reservations and sat at the bar although I would've preffered a table. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable and while they had a lot of servers running around it was impossible to get one to stop and take an order...best chance is to flag them down and yell out your order as they're rushing away.
I felt a bit rushed and crowded. I like my sushi resturants a bit quiet and intimate. But if you want a bar-like enviroment, in a posh part of town, that serves sushi with some inflated prices this is your spot.

Sinju is a warm inviting resturant with a tatami mat room in the back for private parties.
There's a bar to sit out but the majority of the space has private tables and while the tables were a little bit close for my own taste it was comfortable.
The waitress was nice and accommodating for my indecivness and picky onigri needs. And was thoughtful enough to serve the dessert after we'd eaten all the sushi so as not to crowd the table.
It's not often I visit Portland so I can't say it's the best in the city but it's definitely in my top 3 for sushi in the Pacific NW. I only wish I could visit again soon.

You walk into Koibito and sit yourself at the bar at the back for sushi or one of the tables in this large room.
There's 1 maker and 1 server but service is still reasonable.
There's more meat than rice and a hint of light wasabi in every somewhat messy roll.
There's not a lot of privacy in a big room with lots of tables and it's a bit dark but even with all the negatives it still has decent sushi. But if you can make it to So. Tacoma/Seattle/Portland I reccomend it. It's worth the drive.
