Just had a fine sushi lunch at Blue Fin. I'm new
in Bham and was nervous about my first sushi.
I chose well. I've traveled quite a bit, including
LA, SF, etc and eaten sushi everywhere I been.
I am a nigiri guy. Rolls and all that are nice,
but one cannot judge the quality of the fish
with mayo and spicy sauce all over it. The
freshness and quality of the fish at Blue Fin is
excellent. Steve, the chef, and Sue his wife,
are the owners. They were both very friendly
and attentive. They have been in business
four years and are obviously doing it properly.
Also the selection was impressive. I had
Ankimo, Saba (they make it there), Uni, Big Eye
Tuna, Scallop (Hotate), Unagi and Hamachi.
Yes, I ate too much, but it was excellent and I
wanted to really check out the quality of the
fish.
The other amazing thing is that the nigiri was
$4! $4?!?! For fresh fish?! I am accustomed to
more like $6-$7. Anyone complaining about
the price needs to just go to the all you can
eat place...
